Improve and integrate natural resource and key planning data for more
effective regional planning and program decisions. The GPP would build
upon its current efforts with the Department
of Fish and Game to digitize existing habitat and natural
resource data and add new resource information needed for local and
regional planning. In addition, the GPP would work with state and
regional entities to determine data gaps and obtain local data not
currently part of the GPP data layers (e.g. general plans and their
updates, habitat, land use and parcel data).
Improve access to, and use of, natural resource and planning data
through an on-line, centralized spatial data system. Through the California Environmental
Resources Evaluation System (CERES) Web site and the California Digital
Conservation Atlas, up-to-date, high-resolution spatial data
for the San Joaquin Valley will be easily accessible for planning
decisions within the San Joaquin Valley. In addition, the GPP will work
with other state entities to incorporate new data.
Establish processes for sharing data between local/regional and state
entities. A pilot would be implemented to establish a process for
sharing key data between state, regional and local governments in the
San Joaquin Valley. The GPP would work with regional representatives to:
- Determine data needs
- Design a consensus based, data sharing process
- Compile and share existing natural resource and
planning geospatial data and develop additional
layers at a scale appropriate for local analyses for the San Joaquin
Valley
- Develop and deliver geospatial analytical tools
to empower and better inform local, regional and
state decision-makers
- Make local San Joaquin Valley geospatial data
layers publicly accessible
